TAS FAQs

What is my goal for The Aphrodite Syndrome?

  • My overarching purpose for creating TAS is to build a community where people can speak freely about their own struggles with personal development and expression, self-love and forming relationships with others—platonic or romantic—and receive empathy, encouragement and helpful advice from people with similar experiences.

  • Personally, I want to channel my love of writing into a different type of creative outlet while I (still) attempt to finish a novel or five.

What kinds of topics will I cover/not cover?

  • Fashion, beauty, skincare, dating advice, and self-love all fall under Aphrodite’s domain and my areas of personal interest and devotion.

  • Although eating right and exercising are important ways to stay beautiful and healthy, I will not be covering them in my substack, unless a guest collaborator has any pertinent thoughts that tie back to my main pillars.

Why did I choose Aphrodite?

  • I’ve loved Greek mythology ever since I was little and playing the Hercules VHS to death (yes, I’m aware Disney took creative license!)

  • I was always drawn to Aphrodite because I am a passionate romantic and aesthete, but we both have some bite, too, so she’s my perfect muse.

Can you read any content for free?

  • As a member of the Devotees tier, I’ll be sharing a monthly digest of my latest musings and advice. You’ll also receive a weekly tip from one of my 4 main pillars (fashion, beauty, dating and self-love) to help you stay motivated on your journey to a more blissful lifestyle.

Why do I call my paid subscribers Erotes? What can you expect?

  • As members of Aphrodite’s retinue, the Erotes are her dearest confidantes (and, in many cases, her children.) It’s super cute to imagine y’all as cherubs!

  • Along with the monthly digest and weekly tip, you’ll get access to weekly pieces relating to the 4 pillars, as well as content from guest contributors and answers to the hottest debates you’ll be having in my comments. Not to mention you’ll be able to access the Archives at any time.

Why do I call my founders Charites? What bonuses are available to you?

  • The Charites, aka the Graces, are a group of goddesses associated with Aphrodite thanks to their presiding over charm, beauty, nature, fertility, and other areas. They have pre-Greek origins, so they’d been worshipped before Aphrodite is even mentioned in mythology. That’s why I want my super supporters to receive a name befitting their place in the Retinue.

  • Charites will receive all the benefits of paid subscribers, as well as an annual 1 on 1 consulting session to work through your current personal development hurdles and make goals to succeed in the following year.
