Teach them while they’re young!

My fairest Erotes,

“Hot hedonist summer” is in full swing in the States now that it’s hit July, and that means pool parties, mountain hikes, camping in the woods, and festivals… aka the breeding grounds for dirt, sweat and other undesirables. It’s a great time to let loose and have fun, but also a tough time for our skin (although, honestly, if you don’t have “normal” skin, when isn’t it a tough time??) The heat alone either causes extra drying and cracking, or extra oil that attracts more dirt—kind of a ratty situation. Fortunately, we have the technology to combat the ick.

In the first part of this series, we identified our skin types and began thinking about things to avoid in our skincare routines based on those personal needs. Now, with each upcoming part, we’ll delve further into the skincare routine steps, both basic and complex, and try to determine the best products for you. Where better to start than with the step that everyone, no matter their age, gender, or what have you, needs to do at least once daily: cleansing!

Depending on your skin type, you’ll want to cleanse before and/or after your daytime adventures due to environmental impurities. If you put on makeup and/or sunscreen during the day, you should definitely wash at night so those products don’t clog your pores and cause problems. Cleansing the skin also primes it to allow the products you put on after to absorb into the skin, as well as removes dead skin cells and encourages natural skin optimization processes.
